Silent Update of the AimBetter Agent

You can silently update the AimBetter Agent using Command Prompt (CMD), without displaying installation dialogs or requiring user interaction.

Prerequisites

• Download the AimBetter Agent. exe file from https://update.aimbetter.com/.
• Ensure you have administrator privileges on the target server.
• Verify the installer filename and its location.

Run the Silent Installation

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
2. Run the following command, replacing the file path and filename accordingly:"C:\Users\User\Downloads\Aimbetter_Agent\Aimbetter_3_4_8_17.exe" /s /v"/l*v C:\update.log /qn /norestart"
3. Wait for the installation process to finish. The installation runs in the background without displaying a user interface.

Command Parameters

Parameter	Description
/s	Runs the installer in silent mode.
/v"..."	Passes the enclosed parameters to the embedded Windows Installer (MSI).
/l*v C:\update.log	Creates a detailed installation log at C:\update.log.
/qn	Runs the MSI installation without displaying a user interface.
/norestart	Prevents the installer from automatically restarting the machine.

Note: Keep the quotation marks around the executable path, especially when the path contains spaces or parentheses.

Update IIS Monitoring

The IIS monitoring module does not update automatically when the AimBetter Agent updates because updating the module requires an IIS server restart. To update it separately, open Command Prompt as Administrator and navigate to the Agent directory first:

cd /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\AimBetter\Monitor\Agent"

Then run:

Aimbetter.Agent.Worker.exe -iis

Important: The -iis command is intended for an IIS monitoring update and implies an IIS server restart.

Troubleshooting

• 'C:\Program' is not recognized: Enclose the full executable path in quotation marks.
• Access denied: Run Command Prompt as Administrator.
• Installation errors: Review C:\update.log for detailed MSI diagnostics.
• IIS monitoring is unavailable: Verify the Agent installation and confirm that the IIS-related operation completed successfully.
